Colorado Prop 122

Colorado Proposition 122, also known as the Natural Medicine Health Act, was a ballot measure passed in November 2022 that decriminalized the possession and use of certain psychedelic plants and fungi, including psilocybin mushrooms, for adults aged 21 and older. The measure also established a regulated framework for licensed healing centers where individuals can access supervised psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Additionally, Prop 122 allows for the cultivation, gifting, and personal use of these natural medicines without commercial sales outside of licensed facilities. This landmark legislation reflects a growing recognition of the potential therapeutic benefits of psychedelic substances, particularly in supporting mental health and well-being.

Microdosing Psilocybin

Harm Reduction

Microdosing psilocybin, the practice of consuming sub-perceptual doses of the compound, has been explored as a potential harm reduction strategy, particularly in the context of mental health and substance use. One of the key benefits is its ability to support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety, which may help individuals manage stress or emotional instability without turning to harmful substances.

Additionally, microdosing may foster a greater sense of clarity, creativity, and mindfulness, which can improve decision-making processes and encourage healthier coping mechanisms. By promoting mental well-being in a non-intoxicating way, microdosing can reduce the temptation to self-medicate with substances that carry higher risks of dependence, overdose, or long-term harm.

Moreover, microdosing has been shown to support neuroplasticity, potentially facilitating positive changes in cognitive patterns and helping to address the underlying psychological issues that often lead to substance abuse. This approach can offer an alternative pathway to healing that minimizes the risks associated with more conventional, potentially addictive substances.
